1952 Nash Nealey

Original Nash 252 cid LeMans Dual jetfire inline 6-cylinder engine has been replaced by a “Mighty Mouse” Chevrolet 327 cid V8 -The Chevrolet L76 327 CID top end carbureted V8 engine produced 365 HP at 3,200 RPM. Background: An iconic example of multi-national (American/British/Italian) collaboration in design and manufacturing. Dubbed “America’s second post-war sportscar,” this is one of only 506 Nash-Healey’s ever made between 1951 and 1954.

The newly designed 1952 roadster was modeled to resemble the other cars in the Nash product lineup more closely by introducing a single piece curved windshield, grill mounted headlights, distinctive fender character, and sporty rear fins. Additionally, design modifications calling for a steel and aluminum construction reduced the overall curb weight.

While the drivelines and engine were built by Nash-Kelvinator in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the frames and suspension were built by the Donald Healey Motor Company in Warwick, England. Once the rolling chassis was assembled, it was then shipped to Italy. In contrast to the 1951 model, this latest version had a body restyled and built in Italy by the renowned Batista “Pinn” Farina – Pininfarina. The result was an amazing yet expensive attempt to combine the best offerings of three different countries. The Nash-Healey Roadster cost nearly double compared to the new Chevrolet Corvette!
