Baur 323i Restomod

The E21 was the first 3 Series, and BMW never built it as a convertible; the German coachbuilder Baur did, converting the two-door into the targa-style TopCabriolet with a removable roof panel and folding rear section, sold through BMW dealers with the factory warranty. This 1981 323i, the flagship E21, has been reimagined as a restomod. Out went the 2.3-litre M20 six; in went the 3.2-litre S52 from an E36 M3, rebuilt with forged pistons and a turbocharger for an estimated 450 horsepower, nearly double the original car's output, driving through a ZF five-speed, a twin-disc clutch and an M3 limited-slip differential.
