Pininfarina's 124 Spider is the definitive affordable Italian roadster: long bonnet, short deck, delicate chrome and a twin-cam under the hood. Fiat built 14,435 of them in 1980, but this one is a one-of-one. Roadster Salon of Chicago, the specialist Fiat Spider restorer, took the car back to bare metal over three years and rebuilt it from the ground up: a new chassis assembled from the original car's harvested components, a custom-fabricated bonnet, shaved side markers and a redesigned rear, over a turbocharged, fully rebuilt twin-cam with modern fuel injection, a five-speed manual and anti-lock brakes.
